RJH tennis teams brought home silver and bronze medals in the District 19-3A tournament in Franklin last weekend.
“The teams worked hard to bring home medals,” said Coach Melanie Seltzer. “With tough competitors like Franklin and Academy we knew we would have to play tough all day.”
The eighth grade girls team placed second overall in the tournament. Yolianna Castillo finished third place in girls single play. Castillo entered the tournament with an undefeated record of 7-0, according to Seltzer.
The doubles teams of Grace Avrin and McKenna Lopez took second place and their teammates Aaliyah McBrewer and Raegan Eanes placed fourth.
Emma Whitsel also competed coming into the tournament with an overall record of 5-2.
In the eighth grade boys matches, Christopher Perez brought home a third place medal in singles. He lost only one match this season.
Devon Hicks, who has a 3-0 record, also competed in district. The boys doubles team of Jonathan Sperry and Alex Rubio also competed.
Athletes who played for the seventh grade team were: Melanie Moccia and Mason Willard.
Moccia entered district with an overall record of 4-1, and Willard entered undefeated at 6-0.
