Over the weekend at Fort Worth’s Cowtown Coliseum, Rockdale native Ezekiel Mitchell took home the top prize at the PBR Touring Pro Division’s Stockyard Showcase.
Clinching his first event victory since 2019, Mitchell scored an 86.75 in the first round and 87.75 points in the second for a total of 174.50, beating out Brazil’s Marco Eguchi by 2.5 points.
Mitchell is the son of Danny Mitchell of Rockdale and Janie Davis of Baytown.
Mitchell rose to fame in 2019 after being the top bull-rider in the Professional Bull Riding circuit in 2019. He is the first African-American to be atop the sport since Charlie Sampson, who was PRCA world champion in 1982.
