The Blue & Gold baseball team faced off against Mumford last week and came away looking very good with 21-4 victory.
Former Tiger and current head baseball Coach Austin Caffey said, “While the score looks good against Mumford it does not tell the whole story. Mumford substituted a lot of JV players. We did not travel with any of our JV guys so we played all varsity.”
“To be fair while they played their varsity group the score was pretty even,” he added.
Key players in the outing were heavy hitters Austin Caldwell and Bradon Ellis. Pitchers Caldwell, Ellis, Greyson Williams and Slayde Harris all threw shutout innings in relief.
UP NEXT— The Tigers were holding their opening day game on Monday (after The Reporter deadline) at home against St. Michael’s of Austin. Rockdale will then compete in a tournament in Rosebud-Lott starting Thursday. Games to be announced.
The Rockdale Lady Tigers fell to the Thorndale Lady Dogs last week, 10-0.
