THORNDALE— The Tigers looked good early against the neighboring Thorndale Bulldogs in a home game. They were driving the paint and playing like men on a mission. At halftime the score was Thorndale 32, Rockdale 17. Eventually the Bulldogs pulled ahead and the final of this game was Thorndale 60, Rockdale 38.
Potentially contributing factors to this loss could have been that we had some whistle-happy referees that refused to let the players play and we were without senior Mason Willard in the game.
The Bulldogs are 6-1 and a good basketball team so there is no hanging of the head for the hard playing Tigers.
SALADO TOURNEY— The Tigers went on the road and played in the Salado Tournament over the weekend. They got a win against Austin Royal, 47-42.
Tiger De’Andre Stephens had 20 points, Erik Sheppard nine points and Reagan Jackson contributed seven points.
Rockdale then had losses against Krum, 80-40; Gatesville, 69-39; and Salado, 51-36.
COMING UP— The Tigers now have a 2-9 record and will go on the road to play in the Lago Vista Tournament.
Lady Tigers
The Lady Tigers came up short against a good 9-4 Normangee Lady Panthers team last week here at home. The final score was Normangee 53, Rockdale 45. Our Lady Tigers closed the scor ing gap halfway through the third period when the score was Normangee 21, Rockdale 19. The ball was just bouncing right for the Lady Panthers and Rockdale just could not get the momentum to swing in their direction.
COMING UP— The Lady Tigers are now 8-3 and have a road game against the 6-5 Jarrell Cougars. The Cougars are just coming off of a loss to Normangee as well.
