THE 67TH BATTLE OF THE BELL

Rockdale Tigers (1-0) at Cameron Yoemen (1-0) 7:30 p.m.

Tickets sold at gate, but also available on both district websites.

Like most Battle of the Bell games over the last 67 years, this game means something. Not just in terms of community bragging rights for a calendar year, but both teams are 1-0 going into this Friday’s game.

This year’s Yoemen team went through non-district play without a win. However, two of those losses were to Franklin, who has been ranked in Class 3A-II and Bellville, Texas Football Magazine’s sixthranked team in Class 4A-II that beat the Yoe 41-26 just two weeks before they took down the Tigers 67-7.

After those four losses, they showed other District 11-3A-I opponents that they’re a force to be reckon after defeating Caldwell 70-0 this past Friday.

In that game alone, senior quarterback Ryan Muniz threw for 411 yards with receivers Jaidyn Sanchez, Kason Goolsby, Pharrell Hemphill and Trayjen Wilcox all ending the night with more than 100 receiving yards.

Muniz has amassed 1,096 yards through the team’s first five games and Sanchez, Goolsby, Hemphill and Wilcox all have accumulated at least 200 yards.

Although Cameron runs the ball significantly less, Phaibian Bynaum, has accounted for 378 of Cameron’s 597 yards.

On the other side of the ball, Colton Barbo has been a tough customer for opposing offenses 58 total tackles, 19 of which came during the Milam County squad’s matchup with the Hornets.

Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
