The victory train the Lady Tigers were riding after a big district win on the road against rival Cameron came to a stop when the Academy Bumblebees pulled into town. The Swarm proved to be too much for the hometown team. The final score in this district game was 64-31.
Academy is 12-6 for the year, our Lady Tigers are 9-8.
It looked closer than the final score at halftime when Rockdale was only behind 32-20. Somewhere around the third period Academy started to pull away and the Lady Tigers just could not catch up.
Despite the loss Lady Tiger Head Basketball Coach Danielle Froggatt is confident in her team, “We were disciplined and played together. We could not have asked for more.”
Leading the Lady Tigers were Ciara Miles with 19 points, eight rebounds and eight deflections.
COMING UP— These fighting Lady Tigers will now hit the road against Lexington before the Christmas break.
They are now 1-1 in district play.
Tigers
The Rockdale Tigers could not keep up last Friday night against Navasota and lost another one. This game was played on the road and the final was 48-32.
Standout players in this game were De’Andre Stephens with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals. Reagan Jackson had five points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Alex Cooper had five points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Erik Sheppard contributed five points and had five rebounds.
COMING UP— District play begins this week against the Lexington Eagles on the road.
JV, FROSH— The Tiger freshman squad also lost against Navasota 50-22 and the JV lost 48-22.
