After a playoff drought of 12 years, former Tiger and head baseball coach Austin Caffey’s squad rolled over the Groesbeck Goats last week in the first round of the playoffs.
Thursday’s game was called because of weather and it was not just the weather that looked bad. The Tigers started out in the hole before the game was called 2-0.
The game was rescheduled and it became a doubleheader and the good news is they won both games, 10-3 and 13-4.
They proved once again that Tiger Fight Never Dies. It’s always a team effort when they win but the efforts of individuals like Mason Willard and Stephen Goodrich are always appreciated. Way to go, Blue & Gold, and way to go, Coaches Caffey, Brinkley and Loth. Tiger Nation is behind you as you keep rolling!
AREA PLAYOFFS— The Tigers will now face Malakoff in the area round of the playoffs on Thursday, Friday and, if necessary, Saturday.
Thursday’s game will start at 6 p.m. with Friday’s games starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s game at 1 p.m.
Malakoff will be a tough competitor. These Tigers finished in first place in their district w ith a 9 -1 r ecord and a 20-6 overall record for the season.
“We are expecting a very solid Malakoff team. Regardless of who we play, our goal as a team is to play our game, be who we are,” Coach Caffey said. “We are battle-tested after playing in a really strong district which I feel plays in our favor when it comes to tough post-season matchups.”
