Tigers

The Rockdale Tigers had a full week on the hard court.

Early in the week the now 2-1 McGregor Bulldogs pulled into town and beat the Tiger varsity squad in their own gym by a score of 54-38.

High flying De’Andre Stephens was one of the top performers in this loss. Stephens had 22 points, four rebounds and six steals. Bryson O’Bryant, who is always solid, had five points with seven rebounds.

The Tigers then went on the road to Lorena to face the undefeated Leopards. Lorena continued on their winning streak and won this contest 61-41.

O’Bryant put up 15 points and baller Stephens had nine points.

“These are very tough losses,” said Head Tiger Basketball Coach Sean Lexima. “Our young guys are still learning. We had good shot selection, we just have to make the open shots. Stephens carried us with his defensive efforts and that was the catalyst for a lot of our offensive opportunities.”

COMING UP— The Tigers are now 1-2 in district play and were to take their game to Troy on Tuesday, to face the Trojans who are 1-2.

On Friday, the Tigers will be back home in their gym to go against the Rogers Eagles who are 1-2. This game will also start at 7:30 pm.

Lady Tigers

The Rockdale Lady Tigers hosted McGregor last Tuesday night and they came away with a win in what was a very emotional game. The final was Rockdale 33, McGregor 32.

This game could have easily gone the other way if it was not for the talent, tenacity and fight of these Lady Tigers. Maybe it’s true that “Tiger Fight Never Dies.”

McGregor is 1-4 in district play but you would not know it from Tuesday night’s game. They did not give up.

Good job Rockdale, Tiger Nation salutes you on this big home-court win that put you at the time 3-1 in district play.
