Big Blue continues to struggle on the hard court. It seems like they are just a couple of pieces away from putting something together. No doubt there is talent on this team and they are well coached but just can’t seem to win.
The Tigers lost both of their games last week.
Early in the week they lost in front of a great home crowd to Lexington 45-40. Lexington seems to always play Rockdale hard and this game was no different.
The first half was close but the Eagles pulled away in the third quarter and finally in the fourth they decided to win and picked up the pace and got aggressive both offensively and defensively.
Later in the week a road trip to McGregor proved unsuccessful as the Tigers lost 70-38.
The Tiger varsity squad is 5-23 for the year and 2-7 in district play.
COMING UP— The Tigers were to host the Lorena Leopards on Tuesday, with the Troy Trojans coming to town on Friday. Tipoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
JV/FROSH— The JV lost 15-13 against McGregor. The freshmen won 47-12.
Lady Tigers
The Lady Tigers are good and they like to win. That’s why a two-loss week last week was so hard to endure. Early in the week, they lost at home against neighboring Lexington. The final score was 41-36.
Ciara Miles was a standout player in this game with 15 points, four rebounds, two steals, three blocks and two assists. Trinity Hurd had 10 points and two rebounds.
The Blue & Gold then went to McGregor to take on the Bulldogs. The final score of this game was McGregor 44, Rockdale 36.
COMING UP— The Lady Tigers were to play a home game against Lorena on Tuesday and then a home game with Troy on Friday. They wrap up their district season on the road in Rogers on Feb. 6. All games start at 6:15 pm.
The Lady Tigers are now 5-6 in district games and 17-13 overall.
