The Rockdale Tigers soccer squad is 2-2 in district play after splitting games last week against Salado and Taylor.
SALADO— Big Blue faced some stiff competition against 4A-III 12th ranked Salado. The Tigers lost 3-1 and their lone goal was made by Wilmer Sorto with an assist by Angel Rivera.
TAYLOR— Rockdale came out on top 1-0 against neighboring Taylor. The Tigers’ goal was made by Rivera with an assist by Christian Mata.
NEXT UP— Coming up for Rockdale was a home game on Tuesday against Giddings (after The Reporter deadline) and then a road trip to La Grange at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Lady Tigers
The Rockdale Lady Tigers have hit a rough patch, dropping both of their games last week.
SALADO— Against 4A-III No. 2 ranked Salado, Rockdale lost 6-0.
TAYLOR— Later in the week the Lady Tigers lost to Taylor 1-0.
The Lady Ducks only score was made with less than 14 minutes left.
Head Lady Tigers Soccer Coach Shirley Rodriguez said, “Our entire team worked hard and they had some opportunity to score. Our defense played as a team and our goalies had some great saves. It was a joy watching them play.”
COMING UP— The Lady Tigers were scheduled to host Giddings on Tuesday (after The Reporter deadline), before traveling to La Grange 4:15 p.m. Friday to take on the Lady Leopards.
