The RJH eighth grade A lost 39-0 to the 6-1 Cameron Yoemen in District 10-3A play.

The Tigers, who dropped to 1-5, were able to execute their offense and make defensive stops against a Cameron team that has yet to lose a district game.

The Yoemen scored early to go up 6-0, but the Tiger defense was strong for the remainder of the first quarter. In the middle of the second, Cameron was able to break several long plays on consecutive drives to go into the half 26-0, according to Eric Willard, Rock-dale Junior High football coach.

To start the second half, Cameron converted a fourth and 15, which led to a Yoe touchdown. The Milam County rival also scored on a busted play to make the score 39-0. Eighth grade A is 1-5.

The Tigers were shutout, but improved their offensive play in the second half. According to Willard, quarterback Scott Penny found wide receiver Devon Hicks to extend Rockdale posession late in the game. Defensive standouts for Rockdale were Joel Scott and Cade Pantaleon. Offensive players were Penny, Hicks, and Tyler Stewart.

8/7B – The Combined B team lost to Cameron 18-0. The Yoemen scored early, going up 6-0 on the first drive.

The Tiger defense was able to shut down the Yoe to keep the score 6-0 until the end of the half. The second half ended with a Colton Ellis sack.

Despite giving up two more touchdowns in the second half, the Tiger defense also made plays. Raymond Darden intercepted a two-point conversion pass to prevent the Yoemen from adding to their score.

Defensive standouts were Darden, Ellis, and Ryan Cranford. Offensive standouts were Cayden Young and Chris Perez. The B team is 0-5 on the season.

7A – The seventh grade A lost their first district game to an undefeated Cameron team 21-13.

In this game, it was the Tigers who got off to a fast start. Quarterback Blaydn Barcak threw a 30-yard pass to Cruz San Migel on the opening drive. Cameron scored on the next series, and went ahead 7-6.

The Yoemen, 4-0 in district, went on a run in the second quarter. They got the ball back, and made the score 14-6. Cameron also made a run at the end of the half, but were stopped by Gerren Marrero, whose interception prevented a touchdown.

Cameron started the second half with a 50-yard drive to improve their lead to 21-6, but the Tigers answered back. The Tigers made it to the four-yard line with a thirty-yard pass from Barcak to Windham. Barcak scored from the four, and made the two-point conversion to change the score to 21-13.

Rockdale’s defense was able to come up strong in the fourth, according to Willard.

The Tigers held Cameron inside the Rockdale 20-yard line, with a possession ending in a Barcak interception.

The Tigers looked to tie the game, but after two long pass plays which brought Rockdale to the Yoemen 30-yard line, Cameron recovered a fumble to end the game.

Defensive standouts were San Migel, Sterling Prazak, and Isaiah Sauls.  

Offensive standouts were offensive linemen Zach Matthews, Madden Montelongo, and Chad David. The Seventh grade A team is 3-2.

Rockdale Junior High Football teams play their next games at home when all three teams take on the Jarrell Cougars. Kickoff begins at 4:30 for the Combined B team.
