In their third game of the season, Rockdale couldn’t overcome three second quarter touchdowns by the Lexington Eagles, who ultimately won Thursday evening’s JV contest in Lee County 20-6.

RJH started off with an electric first quarter after Levar Beckwith ran back an interception for a 32-yard touchdown. Rockdale finished the opening first up 6-0 and had two fumble recoveries from linebacker Mason Willard and defensive tackle Luis Lepe.

LHS took over in the second scoring on two passes and a run play to take the lead at halftime 20-6.

Although no more scoring occurred in the game, Tiger defensive tackle Avery Pizana had a fumble recovery in the third.

THIS WEEK–Rockdale JV plays their non-district game on Thursday against Bellville at Tiger Stadium. Game time is 6 p.m.

8A–Rockdale Junior High’s eighth grade “A” team fell 44-6 in their season opener. Despite the score, the RJH did have some highlights during the game.

Slide Wyndham made a fumble recovery on the opening kickoff and quarterback Brody Willard completed a 35-yard TD pass to De’andre Nunn. James Bartsch also caught 20-yard pass reception in the second quarter. According to head coach Eric Willard, Nunn and Wilmer Sorto-Ventura were the offensive standouts and Cesar Rodriguez and Mason Willard on defense.

7A–Rockdale’s seventh grade “A” team tied Lexington 8-8 in their opener. LMS scored to make it 8-0 but a 40-yard touchdown pass from Greyson Williams to Rachaid Wilson followed by a successful two-point conversion run by Williams evened the contest at eight. Standouts on offense were Williams, Michael Calderon and Weston Smith. Defensive standouts were Kendrick Henderson, Dominik Lopez and Ivan Facundo.

COMBINED 7/8B–The RJH seventh/eighth grade “B” team lost to Lexington 18-6 after the Eagles were able to put up points early. Offensive standouts were Oertli and Ragan Roberts. Standouts on defense were Ayeden Pena and Eduardo Rivera.

THIS WEEK–The Rockdale Junior High football team makes another road trip Thursday to face Bellville. Games start at 4:30 p.m.
