GRANGER— The Rockdale Lady Tigers hosted Granger last week and had their first home win of the new season. The varsity squad won 25-18, 25-22 and 25-21.
Former Tiger and head volleyball coach Morgan Laughlin said, “I’m super pleased with our girls. I’ve been working through several rotations to utilize all the athleticism on the team.”
Key players in the game were Hannah McKie at libero, Elizabeth Perry and Kinley Galvan.
Coach Laughlin added, “I can’t say enough good things about these girls, our hitters did a great job taking care of the ball. We’re getting in the groove of things and really meshing well as a team.”
ROCKDALE TOURNEY— Rockdale hosted a volleyball tournament last week and finished in third place. The Lady Tigers lost to Richards 17-25, 25-27 but they came back to win against Bartlett 25-10, 25-15.
The win streak continued against Holland. Rockdale won two sets to one, winning 22-25, 25-11, 25-8.
The winning did not stop as the Lady Tigers beat Florence 25-15, 25-17.
Killeen Shoemaker however proved to be too much, Rockdale came up short losing 23-25 and 21-25.
Finally the Lady Tigers played and beat Richards 25-18, 18-25 and 25-13 to come in third place.
Way to go Rockdale!
HOLLAND— Last Friday between playing in their own tournament, the Lady Tigers traveled to Holland and beat the Lady Hornets three sets to none, winning 25-23, 25-8 and 25-9.
Rockdale has a current record of 8-6.
THIS WEEK— The Lady Tigers were to play Thorndale at home Tuesday before traveling to Academy to play in their tournament on Thursday.
Rockdale will be back in their gym on Friday to play Milano. Sub varsity starts at 4:30 p.m. and varsity starts at 6.
