CAMERON—Four Rockdale High School powerlifters left Saturday’s Yoe Invitational with medals while another five student athletes placed among the top five in their respective weight classes.
The Lady Tigers had three silver medalists including Melody Duran, Ashley Gonzales-Reyes and Shakira Richards. Anna Harris and Georgina Rodrigiuez both placed fourth in their divisions.
For the Tigers, Alvan Liu was the team’s top finisher, placing third in the 181-pound division. William Davenport and Zeb Skrhak took home fourth-place finishes in the 242 and 114-weight classes. Jack Luckey and Ragan Roberts ended the day both in fifth in the 308 and 242.
THIS WEEK— Rockdale High School powerlifting teams do not have a meet scheduled for this week as of press time, but return to competition the week after. The junior varsity lifts next in Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 1, while the varsity travels to Kyle’s Lehman High School for a meet on Saturday, Feb.
4. Due to the RHS powerlifting program having more than 58 student-athletes competing this year, the school has many weeks where they go to multiple meets.
