Rockdale mother and son Cynthia and Nick Gonzalez were crowned Mixed Doubles Champions at a United States Tennis Association Tournament in Waco. The tournament took place Friday and lasted through Sunday with 16 teams participating.
In the finals, the Gonzalez family claimed victory against the team of Mayfield/Richbourg in three sets scoring 3-6, 6-3, and 10-7.
Nick Gonzalez graduated from Rockdale High in 2013. During his time at Rockdale, he competed in the State Tennis Tournament in 2012. Cynthia Gonzalez has only been playing tennis for a year.
