The Rockdale Tiger soccer team made an impression this year in 4A Region III District 24. They made it to the post-season, finished with a 18-7-2 record and placed third in their district.
Congratulations are now in order to the following Tigers for their individual recognitions:
• Co-offensive player of the year, sophomore Angel Rivera.
• Co-midfield player of the year, sophomore Wilmer Sorto.
• Co-utility player of the year, senior Daniel Rodriguez.
• First-team All-District players are senior Riley Spears, junior Daniel Castillo, senior Jose Orellana and junior Kevin Valdivia.
• Second-team All-District players are junior Pedro Tenorio, sophomore Christian Mata, sophomore Eduardo Rivera and senior Diego Garza.
• Honorable mentions go to senior Jesus Bocanegra, sophomore Jesus Luna-Herrera and senior Saint Medrano.
• Academic All-District members are senior Riley Spears, sophomore Jesus Luna-Herrera and sophomore Eduardo Rivera.
COACH OF THE YEAR— Congratulations also goes to Coach Gilberto Rodriguez for being named Coach of the Year.
RECORDS— In addition to individual recognitions the following Tigers set school records:
• Wilmer Sorto set a school record for most assists with 15 for the season.
• Riley Spears had 10 “clean sheets” (shutouts) along with most saves at 182.
• Daniel Rodriguez set a school record for most steals at 193.
