Several members of the Lady Tiger Volleyball team were named to the 3A Region III District 19 All-District teams.

Haven Jimenez was named to the all-district first team on Monday.

“Haven Jimenez was our go-to outside hitter this season,” RHS Head Coach Kelsey Hudson said. “She really stepped up in her leadership this year, and we could trust her. We knew she could put the ball down for us in any situation. She is a great representative of Rockdale Lady Tiger volleyball on and off the court. We are excited to see what her future holds.”

Julie Bartsch and Averie Hobbs were named second team all-district.

“Julie was one of our most improved players this year,” Hudson said. “She was a force to be reckoned with at the net, and I believe she has a bright future in this program. We look for her to keep stepping up in leadership as well. Averie Hobbs was our libero for the first time this year. She did an outstanding job of stepping up into that leadership role. She always gave everything she had on the court. We were able to keep a lot of rallies going because of her great defense. Our team will miss her next season.” Emma Whitsel and Yolianna Castillo were given honorable mention.

“Emma Whitsel did a great job of playing a new position this year,” Hudson said. “She played outside hitter with confidence. I am proud of the way we could rely on her to get the job done in pressure situations. I am looking forward to what she brings to the future of this program as well. Yolianna Castillo did a wonderful job as our setter this season. Her leadership grew leaps and bounds this year. She is one of the hardest workers in the program, and it pays off every time she steps on the court. She has a bright future ahead of her as well.”

Halle Jimenez, Whitsel, Castillo, Bartsch, Saige Robertson, Haven Jimenez, Brande Breithaupt, Jessica Flores, Jena Locklin, Gabby Lombrana and Hobbs were all selected to the Academic All-District Team.

“I am very proud of my girls academically this season,” Hudson said. “Every varsity player received Academic All-District, which shows how hard the girls worked in the classroom as well this season. Academic rewards are certainly something to take pride in.”

The Lady Tigers finished with a record of 12-12 this season. The young ladies made history this year after they defeated Fairfield High School in the 3A Bi-District Round. The win marked the Lady Tigers first playoff victory since 1987.

The young ladies will look to continue to bring the program to new heights next season.
