On Monday night, the RHS gymnasium was full of blue and gold for the annual Meet the Tigers social and cake auction hosted by the Rockdale Tiger Athletic Booster Club.
“It’s such a great way to kick off the school year and get ready for all of the fall activities,” said Susan Boyd, a member of the RTABC. “It’s so good to see our fans supporting our kids.”
Tiger head football coach and athletic director Jeff Miller was the host for the evening and John Fisher auctioned off 40 items to the hundreds of Rockdale fans in the bleachers.
The blue and gold faithful raised $6,865 from the desserts that Tiger football players helped prepare for the event. The highest bid was made by Randy Morgan who purchased a strawberry three-layered cake from Tiger quarterback Jace Robinson for $350.
“I was really pleased,” Miller said. “It’s a fun get together and it’s nice because the community gets to see some of the new faces as well as the old.”
Rockdale fans were introduced to RISD coaches, football players, volleyball players, members of the cross country team and the RHS athletic trainers.
Fans also met members of the Big Blue Band from Tiger land, the Golden Girls and the RHS cheerleading squad, who provided live entertainment for the evening.
