Jeter to lift at state powerlifting meet
Rockdale High School powerlifter Nathan Jeter will represent RHS at the Texas High School Power-lifting Association Division III state championship on Friday and Saturday in Abilene at the Taylor County Expo Center. Jeter placed second in the 114-pound weight class behind Bruceville-Eddy’s Issrael Rosas and broke his own personal records in the squat, bench press and deadlift. Thorndale High School’s Corey Brooks also qualified for the state meet in the Super Heavyweight division, reserved for competitors that weigh more than 275 pounds. Brooks lifted a total of 1,635 to finish second at regionals.
Reaves, Neumeyer make TABC teams
Thorndale Bulldog hoopers Sam Reaves and Kolby Neumeyer were selected to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches teams this past week.
Reeves, a senior who led the ‘Dawgs with 25.4 points this season, was named to the TABC All-State and All-Region team.
Neumeyer, a junior, was named to the All-Region team. Both players were a part of a THS squad that made it to the regional semi-finals.
RHS Golfers to have another tourney at Brenham CC
Rockdale High School golfers will compete on Friday and Saturday at Brenham County Club after not competing over the spring break. This will be the second time both teams have competed in Brenham this season after playing there the last week of February. The Lady Tigers finished sixth out of 22 schools and were led by Whitley Boyd who placed seventh and the Tigers finished fourth out of 22 with Ross Loth leading the crew tying for seventh.
Thorndale runs at Lexington on Thursday
The Thorndale track and field teams will compete on Thursday at the Lexington Relays.
Milano tracksters head to Franklin
Returning from their spring break hiatus, the Milano High School track and field teams will compete at Lion Stadium in Franklin. MHS last competed at the Thrall Relays on Thursday, March 7, where the boys team won first place.
Lewis throws 16 K’s against in Bremond win
The Milano Lady Eagles defeated Bremond 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles got on the board in the first inning when Kaitlyn Telg scored a runner on a sacrifice bunt. They held on for the remainder of the game and scored again in the sixth.
Jenna Lewis led MHS with 16 strikeouts and allowed one hit.
The Lady Eagles are 2-3 in District 25-2A and play at home against Rosebud-Lott on Friday. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
Lady Bulldogs club Lions with big innings
The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs returned from spring break with a 15-0 shut out over Granger on Tuesday at home.
The game lasted a total two and a half innings after THS scored six runs in the first inning and nine in the second.
Riley White threw five strikeouts to 10 batters total and allowed one hit in three innings pitched.
The Lady Bulldogs are undefeated in district and face Leander Glenn at 6:30 p.m., Friday at home.
As of Monday, THS is ranked 10th in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll.
Milano baseball falls again to Rosebud-Lott
The Milano Eagles baseball team lost 9-2 on Tuesday afternoon to Rosebud-Lott.
The face the Cougars against on Friday in Rosebud.
Bulldogs shut out Bartlett in district play
Improving to 2-0 in District 25-2A play, the Thorn-dale Bulldogs defeated Bartlett 10-0 in five innings.
The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, scoring two in the first and building a comfortable lead in the third with a fi ve-run rally.
Colin Taylor led THS with eight strikeouts and one hit allowed. Mason Kuhl led Thorndale at the plate with two hits.
“This was a good win for us as a team.” said Kelly Kuhl, THS head baseball coach.
The Bulldogs face Bartlett again 4 p.m. Friday on the road.
