Tickets for RHS

golf event on sale

The Rockdale Tiger Booster Club Golf Tournament and Crawfish Boil is scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at the Rockdale Country Club.

Entry fee for players is $100 per person and $25 for additional meal tickets. Carts will cost $10 per person. Players must be 18 years of age and prize money will be awarded to the top three places.

Volleyball camp

Rockdale Summer Volleyball Camp registration deadline is July 1.

The camp will be held July 29-31 at Rockdale High School gym. Camp for high school athletes is from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and for younger athletes 1-3 p.m.

Cost for incoming ninth through twelveth graders is $40 and for incoming fourth through eighth graders is $30.

Softball camp set for May 28-30

Milano Summer Softball Camp will be May 28-30 at the Lady Eagle Softball Field.

Camp is for girls entering pre-K through twelveth grade. The cost if $40 per person and $30 for each additional sibling.

Pre-K through third grade workouts are from 9-10 a.m.; fourth through sixth grade, 10-11:30 a.m. and seventh through twelveth, noon-2 p.m.

Golfers named to all-academic team

Milano High School golfers Mason Westbrook and Faith Walton were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s All-State Academic team. Walton was chosen to the first team and Westbrook was on the honorable mention team.

Seniors honored at MHS banquet

Milano High School athletes were honored during the Eagles’ Athletic Banquet Awards ceremony last Tuesday.

MHS most athletic girl and boy were: Sterling Robertson and Christian Thurman and Devonte Jones.

Jones also received the Brandon Chapman Memorial Award and Parker Jones won the Charlie Martin Memorial Award.

Reaves performs in all-star game

Thorndale High School senior Sam Reaves played in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star game last Friday in San Antonio.

“It was a great experience for him and he did great,” said John Kovar, Thorn-dale High School basketball coach.

The game included the top Texas high school basketball players from Class 1A through 4A and he was one of two players from Class 2A or below.

Reaves was named the District 25-2A most valuable player this past season and averaged 25.4 points-per-game for a Bulldog team that made it to the Region IV semi-finals this season.

He will continue his basketball career in the fall at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
