Rockdale summer volleyball begins
RHS hosted teams from Elgin, Snook and Mumford for the opening night of the Rock-dale Summer Volleyball League on Tuesday night.
The Lady Tigers faced Elgin 2 and Snook 1 after press time. They face Elgin 2 again at 5:30p.m., Thursday in the high school practice gym and face Mumford 2 afterwards at 7:30 p.m., in the main gym.
Rockdale also plays this upcoming Tuesday with back-to-back games in the main gym starting a 5:30 match with Mumford 1 and Snook 2 at 6:30.
RHS sets volleyball camp for July 29th
Rockdale High School head volleyball coach Kelsey Hudson is hosting a camp July 29-31 at the RHS gym.
Registration is $40 for high school campers and $30 for younger participants and students in grades fourth through 12th are eligible for the camp.
The high school session is from 9 a.m. until noon and athletes in grades fourth through eighth will go from 1-3 p.m.

THS baseball players make academic team
Five members of the 2019 Thorndale High School baseball team received honors from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association this past week.
Seniors Nick Gerren, Kellen Hubnik, Corey Preusse, Tyler Schillings and Collin Taylor were named to the THSBCA’s Class 2A All-State Academic team.
The five played on a 24-11 Bulldog team that finished second in District 27-2A and made it to the Region IV quarterfinals.
White hurls no-hit All-Star innings
Thorndale High School softball player Riley White played in last Wednesday’s Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class 1A-4A All-Star game in Arlington.
White pitched in the fourth and fifth inning not giving up any hits and striking out three.
This past spring, she helped lead the Thorndale Lady Bulldogs to the state championship game.
Tiger and Friends hold tournament
Rockdale Country Club plays host to the ‘Tigers and Friends’ Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 27.
The event will be for members of past and present Rockdale High School Tiger and Lady Tiger golf teams. Former and current coaches can also play and there will also be a number of places held for supporters of Rockdale golf.
The tournament is a four-person scramble with a blind drawing on Friday, July 26, at 7 p.m. The tournament will begin the next day with the first hole at 11 a.m., the next day.
Entry fee is $70 per person which include green fees and lucn
