Country Club holds champ tournament
Rockdale Country Club is holding a championship golf tourney on Aug. 17-18.
The tourney will have divisions for women, men under 65, men ages 65-71 and the super senior division for players older than 72 years of age.
Women, seniors and super seniors start at 8 a.m., Saturday, and play round two starting at 9 a.m., Sunday. Men start Saturday, at 9. Round two starts at 1 p.m., Sunday.
Registration, which includes three meals and a fish fry Saturday evening, costs $20.

Area cross country teams start season
The Rockdale High School cross country team begins their season on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Mud, Sweat and Cheers Relay outside of Caldwell.
According to head coach Cheryl Meuth, the meet is more similar to an obstacle course than the average meet.
Milano also begins their season on Saturday, Aug. 24, when they travel to Florence.
THS cross country begins their season this week on Friday morning in Temple at the Lions Club Park Invitational.
They compete next on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Mud Sweat and Cheers Relays outside of Caldwell.
THS’s Leschber signs with Henderson State
Thorndale High School senior Landri Leschber signed her letter of intent to play volleyball at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Leschber was a leading striker at the net for a 2018 Lady Bulldog team that made it to their first ever state tournament.
Correction
In last week’s Reporter, it was stated that Thorn-dale had 31 hopefuls show up for the first week of football practice. The actual figure was 37.
