Girls, boys changes to powerlifting sked

The Texas High School Powerlifting Association rescheduled its Region 2 Division 3 Regional Championship at West High School for April 4.

“Both boys and girls powerlifting seasons have been postponed to a later date,” said Coach Jacob Campsey. “ Evaluation continues as the situation is fluid.”

The state meet has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 2 in Abilene. The THSPA website said the situation is fluid and could change.

The girl’s state meet has been postponed due to the growing concerns of the COVID-19. Check the THSWPA website for updates on days and times.

RHS soccer teams end district play

RHS soccer teams ended their track season one game shy of their complete schedule. The boys and girls soccer matches against IDEA Montopolis on Friday, March 13 were canceled.

“As of right now, we are not playing our last game,” said Coach Kaitlin Brinkley.

The Tigers ended their season with a 2-9 District 26-4A record and the girls finished with a 0-6 record. Both team lost to Manor New Tech Tuesday, March 10, boys 4-1, girls 3-0. See the revised district and state schedule on page 1B.

Track combines two meets into one

RHS track and field season has been postponed and district and bi-district area meets have been combined, according to Coach Lewis Edmonson.

“Normally, we do a district and bi-district championship and then go to area, but now we’re combining both districts into one meet,” he said.

District 19 and 20 3A teams will compete against one another and the top four will head to regionals.

District 19 includes: Cameron, Franklin, Lexington, Little River Academy, McGregor, Rockdale, Rogers and Troy and district 20 is made up of Buffalo, Crockett, Elkhart, Frankston, Groesbeck, Palestine Westwood and Teague.
