7th Grade A Team
The 7th Grade A Team defeated the Troy Trojans 20-7.
In the second quarter, Mason Lillard broke up a pass in the end zone on fourth and goal to prevent a touchdown. On the next play, Lillard dialed up an 89-yard touchdown pass to De’andre Nunn. Later in the quarter, Landon Deason caused and recovered a fumble, leading to a five-yard touchdown by Camden Huff.
In the third quarter, the connection of Lillard and Nunn would strike again on a 51-yard touchdown pass. Brody Willard recovered a fumble on the next defensive series
In the fourth quarter, Zeb Skrhak would break up a pass break up in end zone on fourth down. On next defensive series Nunn returned an extra point attempt 97 yards for two points.
Offensive standouts included Ragan Roberts, Adam Aboytes, Stephen Goodrich, Graham Gay and Jesus Limas.
Defensive standouts included Landon Deason, Lillard and Skrhak.
8th Grade A Team The 8th Grade A Team
The 8th Grade A Team was defeated by the Troy Trojans 35-7.
In the second quarter, Tim Grice scored on a 68-yard touchdown run. Big blocks came from Ezequiel Castro and Bryson Weaver. Grice would punch in an extra-point run. Offensive Standouts included Grice and Castro. Defensive standouts included AJ Sandoval and Alex Martinez.
Combined 7th and 8th Grade B Team
The Combined 7th and 8th grade B Team fell to the Troy Trojans 26-7
In the third quarter, Kevin Valdivia had runs of 30 and 25 yards, followed by Cesar Rodriguez’ run of 30. These runs set up Rodriguez for a 10-yardd touchdown run. Offensive standouts included Criss Ruelas and Xander Kellar. Defensive standouts included Zayd Gwyn and Oliver Cruz Ramirez.
Cowboy Karl falls in WBA title fight
Milano native and pro boxer Ryan “Cowboy” Karl was defeated by Mario Barrios in a World Boxing Association (WBA) super lightweight title fight. After a clash of heads in the sixth round, a deep and bloody cut opened on Karl’s forehead causing him to become woozy. Barrios took advantage and knocked Karl out at the two-minute, 23-second mark of the six round.
RCC golf champs crowned for 2020
Brady Nelson III was the top winner in the Rockdale Country Club’s annual 36-hole Club Championship Golf Tournament, according to Randy Fletcher, president. Results were: Championship flight—1st.
Championship flight—1st. Brady Nelson III, 146; 2nd, Chris Gerren, 152,
President’s flight—1st. Steve Spencer, 164; 2nd. Ricky Gaines, 167.
Director’s flight—1st, Mike Becker, 191; 2nd, Jason Shaw, 193.
Senior (ages 65-71)—1st. Richard Towns, 148; 2nd. Gerald Morton, 151.
Super Senior (age 72 +)—1. Frank Amyx, 154; 2nd. John McGee, 159.
