Rockdale Girls Softball sign up begin Saturday

Rockdale Girls Softball League will have a registration day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the youth softball complex. The address of the field is 622 County Road 305 in Rockdale.

The league will also have registration dates on Jan. 29, and Feb. 5, at the same times and the same place.

RHS athletic banquet scheduled for Monday

Rockdale High School’s Fall Athletic Banquet will take place Monday in the RJH Commons.

The event will honor members of RHS football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading and will be catered by Lee’s Landing.

Tickets are $10 and the event will begin at 6 p.m.

Milano basketball resumes this week

Eagle and Lady Eagle basketball teams will be back in action this week after Friday’s district contest with Hearne was postponed due to both schools having a lot of students test positive for COVID-19.

The teams have Friday off but face Hearne Thursday on the road with the girls starting at 5:30 p.m. and the boys following at 7.

Thorndale’s Davis receives mention

Bulldog senior Logan Davis was picked as one of Class 2A’s top ten “Players to Watch” by Texas High School Baseball, a website that covers the national pastime around the state.

Davis finished the 2021 season as District 27-2A’s Offensive Player of the Year and struck out 96 batters in 65 innings pitched. Davis also had an earned run average of 1.80.

Leschber named to Statesmen’s first team

Thorndale’s Stryker Leschber was named to the Austin American Statesman’s All Central Texas first team, on a list primarily made up of Class 5A and 6A players.

The THS senior also announced his verbal commitment to play football next season in the Ivy League for Columbia University in New York City. A feature about Leschber will be in the next edition of The Reporter.
