RJH eighth-grade teams win in Rogers

Rockdale Junior High’s eighth-grade basketball teams both earned road wins on Thursday night in Rogers.

Bryson O’Bryant was the top performer for the eighth grade “B” team with 12 points in his team’s 30-16 win over the Eagles. Zeb Skrhak had 7, Chase Nadeau had 4 and Charles Murphy had 3. Jesus Luna Herrera and Eduardo Rivera each scored 2 points.

The seventh grade “A” team fell to the Eagles in a close one, 22-19.

Greyson Williams led RJH with 9 and Kaylor Eschberger scored 4. Westyn Smith and Colton Schlottmann both scored 2.

Rockdale Junior High’s seventh grade “B” team lost 26-16 with Sebastian Lepe leading the Tigers with 6 while Jameson Cox, Jadon Moody, Zaidenn Arvizu, Zailenn Arvizu and Derrick Cabellero each had 2.

Return of track

Rockdale High School track opens their season on Saturday in Sugar Land. According to the district schedule, a few select Tiger athletes are slated to run at the Clements Ranger Relays.

The meet was added earlier this month. The full Tiger track team makes their official season debut on Feb. 24 in Ganado, while the Lady Tiger track team starts their season on March 4 at the Rockdale Relays. This will be the school’s 64th annual meet.

Tiger and Lady Tiger tennis play in the Thrall meet on Wednesday.
