RJH ‘8A’ places second in district standings

Rockdale’s eighth grade “A” team ended their season with a 39-26 loss in Academy this past Thursday.

De’Andre Nunn led the Tigers with 13 points while Brody Willard and Jaylen Ramey each had 4. Alex Cooper had 3 and Stephen Goodrich scored 2.

Despite the loss, the team finished second in district play with a record of 12-3.

“8B” lost 36-17 to Academy. Bryson O’Bryant led with 8 points. They end the season with a record of 6-4.

“7A” fell to the Bees 31-35. Greyson Williams led the Blue-and-Gold with 12 points. Their record for the 2021-22 season is 4-8.

“7B” was the lone winner in Bell County, beating the Bumblebees, 18-13. Brayden Knoblock led the squad with 8 points. They end the season 6-4.

Tiger golf shines at Hutto’s Star Ranch

On Tuesday, seven Tiger golfers competed at Star Ranch in Hutto. Coach Ethan Noel says RHS was the smallest school at the meet and competed pretty well, with their team finishing in the middle of the pack.

Monte Taylor was the top Tiger golfer, shooting an 88. Jake Hasselbach shot a 100 while sophomore Wyatt Winham was five strokes back with a 105. Windham’s older brother, Creek, shot a 108.

Individual medalists for the Tigers were Carson Eoff, who shot a 113, and Mason Meschwitz, who shot a 118.

RHS powerlifting has 24 regional hopefuls

Last week, Rockdale High School powerlifting coach Ryan Montalvo announced that 14 Lady Tigers have qualified for regionals while 10 Tiger lifters have a chance to qualify in the coming weeks.

For the Lady Tigers, Brianna Bailey, London Campbell, Jill Eubank, Anna Harris, Katia Hernandez, Shellsea Musto, Tatiana Olivares, Elizabeth Perry, Piper Pounders, Shakira Richards, Georgina Rodriguez, Caressa San Miguel, Shelly Segovia and Lizzie Zinn will lift.

Tiger lifters will be announced when their regional status is official.
