MHS football preps for Central Texas Christian
After inclement weather canceled last week’s game with Huntsville’s Alpha Omega Academy, the Milano Eagle football team returns to play in Temple on Friday evening.
They are set to face Central Texas Christian School.
The Lions are currently undefeated after opening the season with a 14-12 victory over Austin’s Brentwood Christian Academy in week one and defeating Dallas Shelton this past Friday on the road, 27-14.
CTCS is led by senior Ehtan A llerkamp, who rushed for 1,670 yards and 14 touchdowns last season and has the fortune of running behind an experienced offensive line.
The Eagles are 1-0 after taking down Wacos’ Reicher Catholic School 41-7 on Friday, Aug. 26, in a game where running backs Andres Ruelas and Josh Millar combined for 375 of the team’s 421 rushing yards.
Game time between the two schools is at 7 p.m.
Lady Dogs sweep Lago
Early Friday evening, Thorndale’s varsity volleyball team took down visiting Lago Vista in three sets, 25-21, 25-16, 25-22.
THS senior Kyndal Robinson led the team at the net with 17 kills, 10 assists and 13 digs while Hadley Meadors led the team in assists with 21 while also recording 1 kill, 1 ace and 7 digs.
Other stats for the Lady Dogs include, Natalie Garcia, 5 digs; Natalie Newton, 8 kills, 6 digs; Raeghan Carlson 6 kills, 9 digs; Abby Dickerson, 15 assists, 5 digs; Emily Reeves, 5 kills, 5 solo blocks; Jessica Yount, 3 kills, 1 solo block; Makaelyn Frei, 2 digs; Kinley Meadors, 4 kills, 2 assists, 1 dig, 3 solo blocks; Landri Martinka, 6 assists, 1 ace, 17 digs.
THS faced Bosqueville after press time and do not have a game scheduled for Friday.
The Lady Dogs return to the court on Tuesday, playing in Bremond.
Match time for Thorndale and the 24th-ranked Lady Tigers is 7 p.m.
