Rockdale cross country teams competed in Caldwell this past Satuday, where the Tigers placed second as a team.

Jesus Bocanegra led the way, placing fourth overall while Yovanney Delgadillo, Cristo Hernandez and Jose Tenorio placed 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.

Freshman Austin Caldwell placed 23rd and Aaron Montelongo placed 26th to round the team’s score of 60 points.

Ciara Miles led the Lady Tigers with a 17th place while Daniella Bocanegra was right behind her in 18th place. Other team competitors were Lucy Grivas (21st), Jadira Luna (27th) and Aliana Ramos (28th). The girls placed third as a team overall. Other runners for the Lady Tigers were Logan Smallwood, Makayla Zamora and Hannya Ugalde.

RHS teams return to Caldwell Monday for district.

THS begin district undefeated, 3-0

Thorndale Lady Dog volleyball improved their district record to 3-0 on Tuesday night after sweeping Granger, 26-24, 25-17, 25-19.

Kyndal Robinson was the team’s leader in kills with 17, while Abby Dickerson and Hadley Meadors led the team in assists with 17 and 14 respectively. Landri Martinka had the team’s most digs with 14.

They also had victories over Bartlett and Manor New Tech, in a non-district match, this past week. THS returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting rival Thrall at 2 p.m.

Koenig places second at Fairfield meet

On Saturday, Milano junior Kadence Koenig placed second at the Fairfield cross country meet while brother Wyatt Koenig placed 10th in the boys division.

MHS competes at district Monday in Taylor.
