Powerlifters receive state academic honors
Rockdale High School’s Kevin Liu and Tatiana Olivares were recognized as Academic All-State Athletes in powerlifting. They both placed at the Elite level, which is the highest academic honor awarded.
Nine Lady Tigers named to All-District soccer
Nine members of the Rockdale girls’ soccer team received All-District recognition.
Marisa Hernandez, Grace Avrin and Ashley Gonzalez were first-team All-District selections.
Second-team honors went to Melanie Lopez, Leydi Mata and Perla Gonzalez, with honorable mentions to Brianna Bailey, Adyson Smith and Alesandra Hernandez.
This was the most successful season for the Lady Tigers program since it started in 2017. The Blue and Gold barely missed the playoffs this year, and with six of the nine ladies listed above being freshmen and sophomores, the program appears headed to more success in the future.
