The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs swept the Snook Lady Bluejays 25-23, 25-18, 29-27 on Tuesday night in Hearne to advance to the regional semi-finals. “Our motto was to be resilient,” said Angelene Raines, Thorndale High School head volleyball coach. “And we were just that.” “These girls could’ve given up in third game when were down six, but then they fought back and managed to pull out a huge win.” The Lady Bulldogs were led by the dominant play of Landri Leschber and Maddie Smith, who led at the net and on the defensive side. Smith had 14 kills and 15 digs, and Leschber had 12 kills and 19 digs. Strong defensive play from Maddie Flores and Laywell also willed Thorndale to their third post-season victory. Thorndale plays in the regional semi-finals on Friday against Freer at Bren-ham High School. The time wasn’t decided by press time.
