BRYAN—The Thorndale Bulldogs wrapped up their season on the road against the Hearne Eagles last Friday night. The final score was Hearne 40, Thorndale 7.
It was a disappointing season for the Bulldogs who no doubt had high expectations for this squad. It seemed like breaking through and winning games was always just around the corner for this team but that breakthrough never came.
The Eagles scored 10 points in the first quarter, 16 in the second and 14 in the third quarter. The Bulldogs defense did keep the Eagles out of the end zone in the fourth quarter. Not only did the defense hold up in the last quarter of this game but the offense came to life as well.
Thorndale was held scoreless by Hearne until the fourth quarter when Bulldog junior wide receiver Braden Pickel scored on a pass thrown by junior QB Gunner Ferguson. Senior kicker Daniel Monroy made the extra point and the final score of this game was Eagles 40, Bulldogs 7.
LEADERS— Individual stats for this game: Junior Noah Crabtree had 14 attempts and 27 yards of rushing. Senior Aiden McRae had 11 attempts and 39 yards rushing. Junior Gunner Ferguson threw for 47 yards and one touchdown. Junior Braden Pickel led the team in receiving with two catches for 22 yards and one touchdown.
The Thorndale Bulldogs finish the season out of the playoffs with a record of 0-10.
