Bulldogs
The Thorndale Bulldogs are starting the New year off right. They are undefeated in district play—they are 2-0 after defeating both Granger and Bartlett.
The final scores of these games were Thorndale 47, Granger 25 and Thorndale 53, Bartlett 19.
COMING UP— Next up for the Bulldogs is a home game against the 3-0 Holland Hornets.
Thorndale will then t ravel to Hearne on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Lady Dogs
The Thor nda le Lady Dogs split games last week. They lost a close game to Granger 40-41. Bethany Preusse had 12 points in this game and went si x for six at the free-throw line. Kassidy Eubanks had 10 points.
Thorndale should have won this game statistically. The Lady Dogs out rebounded Granger but they only shot 28 percent from the field. With only four minutes left Thorndale had a seven-point lead but Granger got hot with their three-point shooting and got some turnovers.
“Our kids did a great job,” sa id He ad L ady Dogs Basketball Coach Doug Franklin. “We had an opportunity at the end and we had a great look at the basket but there was a missed call on our shooter.”
On Friday, they traveled to Bartlett to take on the Lady Bulldogs and came home with a victory. The final score of this game was Thorndale 39, Bartlett 30.
Bethany Preusse led in scoring along with Jacie Leho, each player had e ig ht p oint s . Kassidy Eubanks had seven points. “Kyla Daniell was a big playmaker Coach Franklin. “She always is and she played defense exceptionally well for us in this game.”
“Everyone contributed in this game,” he added. “It was a tough game, full of adversity. The difference between this win and the loss against Granger is we shot 40 percent from the field.”
COMING UP— The Lady Dogs will now face the Hearne Lady Eagles in Hearne at 6 p.m. Friday.
Thorndale is 1-3 in district play.
