The Bulldogs began district play with a statement as they dismantled the Moody Bearcats 44-16. The Bulldogs are now 3-1 on the season.

“Overall I was pretty pleased with our play,” THS Head Coach John Kovar said. “This was probably our best offensive game as far as running everything correctly We didn’t come out rusty after our bye week. We did a good job executing on both sides of the ball.”

The attack began in the first quarter with Branson McCoy scoring a touchdown on a 69-yard run. Cain Brymer would snag a pass from Cayden Nicholson for the two-point conversion. The score was 8-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, quarterback Coy Stutts dialed up a 13-yard pass to Nicholas for the touchdown. McCoy threw a pass to Stutts to earn the twopoint conversion.

A few drives later, the Bulldogs extended their lead as Brymer used his speed to score on an eightyard touchdown. The score was 23-0 at the half.

The Bulldogs picked up where they left off in the third quarter. Thorndale’s running game continued to thrive as Mason Lindig rushed for a 21-yard touchdown. Later in the quarter, Brymer scored his second touchdown of the day on a four-yard run.

In the fourth quarter, Moody would get on the scoreboard with Trent Curry punching in a two-yard touchdown run. The twopoint conversion was good.

The Bulldogs delivered the dagger with a 50-yard pass from Styker Leschber to Stutts for a touchdown.

Moody’s Gavin Green scored the last touchdown on the day with a seven-yard run for a moral milestone for Moody. The two-point conversion was good.

Stutts went 10 of 11 for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Branson McCoy led the team in rushing with 69 yards and one touchdown and Styker Leschber led the team in receiving with three catches for 92 yards.

Despite the dominant win, Coach Kovar says the Bulldogs still have some areas where they can improve their play.

“There is always room for improvement,” Kovar said. “There were some plays that we weren’t 100 percent crisp on. We’re still learning how to play faster and finish every drive the way we want to.”

The Bulldogs will look to keep their win streak alive as they face the 2-2 Holland Hornets on Friday in Holland.
