Thorndale athletes came close to qualifying for the Texas State 7-on-7 tournament Saturday when the Bulldogs started off hot with a 28-14 win over Johnson City and beat Snook 26-6.

In what was the first time in years that THS has participated in 7-on-7, athletic director John Kovar was impressed with how his group performed.

“I thought the kids improved every week,” he said. “We were missing several kids that are injured right now, but younger kids stepped up and played well.”
