Thorndale athletes came close to qualifying for the Texas State 7-on-7 tournament Saturday when the Bulldogs started off hot with a 28-14 win over Johnson City and beat Snook 26-6.
THS fell 38-20 to Rogers in their final game of play in Pool B, but advanced to the qualify ing round that afternoon to face Lexington. In what was the first time in years that THS has participated in 7-on-7, athletic director John Kovar was impressed with how his group performed.
“I thought the kids improved every week,” he said. “We were missing several kids that are injured right now, but younger kids stepped up and played well.”
