It took three games but the Thorndale softball team came out on top against Danbury to become area champions.
Game one was a 3-0 win for the Lady Dogs, game two was a loss 11-4 and game three was a 2-0 victory for Thorndale.
REGIONAL SEMIFINALS— Up next tor the Lady Dogs is the regional semifinal against Ganado at Columbus High School in Columbus at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Game two is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday and game three, if necessary, will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Bulldogs
The Thorndale Bulldogs became bi-district champions by defeating Mason last week.
Thorndale punched out the Punchers in game one, 8-2, and game two, 8-0. Players of the game in game two were Gunner Ferguson, winning pitcher, five innings pitched, two hits, no runs, nine Ks, he also hit an RBI single; and Brenson Beran, two singles, one run and two RBI.
AREA PLAYOFFS— Up next is the area playoff against Danbury in Navasota at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Game two will be played at 7:30 p.m. Friday and game three, if necessary, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Danbury was undefeated in district play and has a high-scoring offense putting up 43 runs on the scoreboard in their last three games.
