The Lady Dogs are now 3-7 overall and 0-2 in district play after losing to neighbors Milano and Thrall.

The Milano Eagles came to town and beat the Lady Dogs with a final score of 36-26. Thorndale’s Bethany Preusse was the leading scorer for her team in this game with seven points. Emily Reeves stood out on defense by blocking four shots and had 13 rebounds.

The Lady Dogs then went on the road against Thrall. The final score in this loss was 58-25. Lady Dog’s Emily Northcott scored eight points and Bethany Preusse scored five.

Head Lady Dogs Basketball Coach Doug Franklin shared, “Jacie Leho played well against Thrall, she had 12 rebounds and defended well. Brook Amidon played aggressively and really hustled.” He added, “We had too many turnovers to be effective offensively and a lot of turnovers lead to easy points from our opponents.”

The girls basketball team is idle until after the Christmas break.

Bulldogs

The now 11-3 Bulldogs suffered what is becoming a rare loss on the road against Marlin last week. This game was lost in overtime with a final score of 49-42. Standout Bulldog in this game was Braden Pickel who had 20 points and 17 rebounds. Later in the week the Bulldogs rebounded with a win over the Giddings Buffaloes. The final of this game was Thorndale 58, Giddings 41. Bulldog Kaden Kovar had outstanding play in this game with 23 points including 7 three point goals, six rebounds and three assists. Kale Meadors also contributed to this victory with 11 points and eight assists.

Thorndale will now play on the road against the Mumford Mustangs who are 13-7 and then host the Florence Buffaloes who are 1-9.
