Thorndale HS fifth in Breazeale Cup
For the second straight year, Thorndale High School placed fifth in the Breazeale Cup, a list compiled by the Austin-American Statesman that recognizes the top schools in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Burnet and Blanco Counties. A handful of schools beyond those borders are eligible for the Breazeale, and Thorndale was one of those schools.
The Cup awards points per sport based on how teams and athletes competed in the post-season. The Statesman said that they finished in the top five again despite not competing in sports such as boys and girls soccer, wrestling and swimming unlike a lot of the schools above and below them.
THS finished behind Liberty Hill, Westlake, Dripping Springs, and Georgetown and ahead of Cedar Park and Lake Travis High School.
