Thorndale’s Natalie Newton (L) and Milano’s Andy Gutierrez (R) competing at the Thorndale Relays in March. Both student athletes placed in multiple events at the Thrall Relays on Thursday where Gutierrez won silver and bronze medals in the 3200-meter run and the mile. Newton took home a bronze in the long jump and was a part of a mile-relay team with Nicole Bivens, Tristyn Buchanan and Landri Martinka that placed fourth.

This was the toughest meet of the season for both Milam County schools facing Thrall, Schulenburg, Holland, Granger, Class 4A Manor New Tech and Class 3A Florence.

Milano and Thorndale head to Holland Wednesday after press time for the District 25-2A track meet.
