For the second time in three games, the Thorn-dale Bulldogs beat an opponent by more than 50 points defeating Axtell 69-0 at Friday’s homecoming game at Bulldog Stadium.

THS built an early lead in the first quarter with a six-yard TD run by Cain Brymer, his fourth of the season. Less than two minutes later, Colton Ray intercepted a Koby Hollingsworth pass and turned into a 75-yard touchdown. The Bulldogs converted both of their PAT’s and led 16-0 at the end of the quarter.

The ‘Dawgs scored three more touchdowns in the half with a 24-yard run by Mason Lindig on the first play of the second. Cayden Nicholson scored a minute later on a 63-yard run and Branson McCoy scored the first touchdown of his varsity career on a 57-yard run three minutes later. Thorn-dale led 34-0 at halftime.

The Bulldogs started another quarter with a first play touchdown when Makai Mitchell scored on a 70-yard kickoff return. Lindig scored again three minutes later on a two-yard run and Brymer returned an interception 15 seconds later for a 31-yard touchdown. Lindig scored once more with a 65-yard run.

Thorndale scored once more in the final quarter with a one-yard touchdown run by freshmen Coy Stutts. THS won the game 69-0.

Lindig led Thorndale with 136 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns. Sophomore McCoy also rushed for more than 100 yards with 114 on two carries.

Mitchell, McCoy and Stutts all scored their first touchdown of their varsity career.

DAWSON-In their final non-district contest, THS will face the Dawson Bullldogs at home on Friday.

The undefeated squad has an experienced team with 17 of their 22 starters returning including quarterback Brendan Horner who had 804 yards rushing and 326 passing yards last season. Horner also had 74 tackles as a linebacker for Dawson.

Running and defensive back Jakoby Moore is also a top player coming off an ACL surgery. Moore had 773 rushing yards and three interceptions in 2018. Safety and running back Da’Mariyea Hamilton also returns after being newcomer of the year as a sophomore.

Kickoff between both Bulldog squads is at 7:30 p.m.
