The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs ended District 27-2A undefeated for the second straight season with a 10-1 win over Granger on the road.
Thorndale got up 2-0 in the top of the first when Kelsey Kovar hit an RBI-groundout and scored another three in the third inning to make the score 5-0. THS came close to run-ruling the Lady Lions in the fifth when they scored four with hits from Kate Casey, Maddie Flores, Ash Kiesling and Jayci Martinka and took the lead 9-0. They scored in the top of the sixth, but Granger’s run at the bottom of the fifth kept the game going.
Thorndale won the game in the seventh and was led by Riley White in the circle, who struck out 11 and allowed three hits.
Martinka led the Lady Bulldogs on offense, going three-for-five.
The champs have two warm-up games before playing in bi-district. They faced Leander Glenn after press time on Tuesday and play Troy at home on Thursday at 6 p.m.
They open post-season play 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, against Wallis-Brazos at Brenham High School.
