Five Bulldogs and four Lady Bulldogs ran at the Temple Invitational on Friday, Aug. 16, to open the 2019 cross country season.

Mason Drumm led the boys placing 20th with a time of 19:32.90. Ty Pesl placed 42nd with a time of 20:46.3 and Jason Penick finished 62nd in the Class 1A through 4A race with a 22:07.50.

Blake Robertson placed 70th with a 22:33.5 and Ethan Williamson was 90th with a 26:12.40.

All five Lady Bulldogs ran in the junior varsity race with junior Jayci Paulsen coming in at 19th with a 17:13.40. Freshmen Alyssa Pachl finished 39th with a 18:27.70 and Wendy Perales placed 42nd with a 18:39.40. Their classmate Tristyn Buchanan finished in 46th with a 18:53.60.

The Thorndale runners will compete this Saturday at the Mud, Sweat and Cheers Relay, outside of Caldwell.

ROCKDALE-RHS will also compete at the Mud, Sweat and Cheers Relay on Saturday morning.

The race, which is an obstacle course at Top Tier Training Camp outside of Caldwell, will begin at 8:30 a.m.

RHS head coach Cheryl Meuth says she is impressed with how her group has done so far.

“I have five boys that comsistently compete every practice,” Meuth, who is entering her third season as the RISD distance coach. “I didn’t expect to have that going into this season.

“Our girls are young, but they’ve performed very well in our practices.”

MILANO-Eight runners from MHS begin their season on Friday at the Florence Invitational.
