The sub varsity Tigers suffered another loss last week against the Little River Academy Bumblebees. The final score was Bumblebees 47, Tigers 20.
The Bees were pass crazy in this game. They showed off their skill players by scoring all four of their first half touchdowns through the air.
The Tigers answered this aerial assault with their own passing attack. Rockdale scored their only touchdown of the first half by Tiger quarterback Greyson Williams connecting with Eduardo Rivera for pay dirt in the first quarter. The score at half-time was a lopsided Bees 27, Tigers 7.
The Tigers came out swinging in the second half with Tiger freshman Kendrick Henderson returning the k ickoff into Bee territory. Henderson then ran 35 yards to get the Tigers inside the red zone. That allowed Tiger quarterback Williams to shove his way into the end zone for a Tiger touchdown. The Bees would continue to attack through the air scoring again on a touchdown pass in the third quarter.
The Tiger offense would strike again in the third quarter with quarterback Williams connecting with running back Jeremiah Butler for a 50-yard pass reception. This play set up Tiger standout Brody Willard to go six yards into the end zone, making this the final score of the night for the Blue and Gold.
At the end of three quarters of play it was Bees 34, Tigers 20.
The Bees would go on to score two more times in the fourth quarter.
The final score was Bees 47, Tigers 20.
The Tigers will travel to play their last game of the season against McGregor this week. Kick off is 6 p.m.
The Rockdale junior varsity now has a record of 1-8 overall and a 0-5 record in district play.
