Tigers baseball had the daunting task of hosting two of the top teams in the state this week, getting one victory and one defeat.

LORENA— On Tuesday the Tigers took out the eighth-ranked Lorena Leopards with a two-run walk-off h omer b y M ason Willard.

Rockdale fell behind in the top of the sixth inning when Lorena knocked in a three-run home run. The Blue and Gold were able to tie the game at 5 on a two-run single by Tyler Stewart in the bottom of the sixth.

S tewa r t f inished the game with two hits and three RBI. Bladyn Barcak added two more hits for the Tigers.

Mario Casarez started the game on the mound, going four and a third innings, allowing four hits, two runs and striking out one.

T ROY— Rockdale didn’t have much time to relish the victory as Troy, ranked 11th in the state, came to town Friday night and spoi led the party. The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back finishing with a 14-2 victory over the hometown boys.

Brody Wi l la r d led Rockdale with two hits.

Mason Willard was the starting pitcher, lasting four innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

Rockdale is 11-6 on the season with a record of 3-1 in the extremely competitive District 19-3A.

SOF TBA L L— The Lady Tigers softball squad didn’t fare as well as the boys this week; losing to Lorena 0-14 and the Troy Trojanettes 1-17.
