The RHS boys cross country team continued their stellar season after placing second in the Lexington Meet on Saturday.

The girls did not place as a team with only two runners participating in the race. However, both runners placed in the top 15.

The meet featured McGregor, Rogers, Founders, Giddings, Jarrell, Caldwell, Cameron, La Grange, Fayetteville, Griffin, Holland, Taylor, Burton, Navasota, Weimar, Florence and North Zulch.

The boys were required to run five kilometers while the girls ran two miles for their race.

For the boys’ team, Jesus Bocanegra placed third with a time of 17:28. Chris Perez finished in sixth at 17:57. Yovanney Delgadillo finished in seventh at 18:01. Cristo Hernandez finished eight at 18:07. Jose Tenorio placed 10th at 18:16. Albert Silva placed 20th at 20:17, while Diego Garza was 32nd at 23:42.

Tenorio, Perez and Delgadillo all set new personal records.

Bocanegra, Perez, Delgadillo, Hernandez and Tenerio received medals for their performances.

For the girls’ team, Jesenia Navarro finished in 12th place with a time of 15.28, while Alize Llanas finished in 14th at 15:30.

“The boys and girls team performed great individually and as a team,” Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said.

The team will look to carry their momentum as they prepare for the District Meet in Cameron on Monday.
