The RHS Boys Cross Country team continued to impress after placing second in the Caldwell Invitational Meet on Saturday. The girls had an impressive showing as well with each runner recording a new personal record.

The meet featured Caldwell, Lexington, Milano, Aggieland Home School, Cameron, Giddings, Rockdale and Katy Jordan. The boys were required to run five kilometers while the girls ran two miles for their race.

For the boys’ team, Jesus Bocanegra placed second with a time of 17:54. Cristo Hernandez finished in seventh at 18:13. Yovanney Delgadillo finished in 11th at 18:20. Chris Perez finished 15th at 18:30. Jose Tenorio placed 18th at 18:50, while Diego Garza was 52nd at 26:11.

For the girls’ team, Jesenia Navarro finished in 29th place with a time of 14.08. Taytum Young finished in 35th at 14:45. Alize Llanas finished in 36st at 15:11. Mariana Casarez finished in 41st place at 16:07. Tatiana Oliveres finished in 42th at 16:42 and Katia Hernandez finished in 45th at 19:04.

“The boys did amazing, even though they didn’t get the win this week,” Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said. “They beat out several tough schools, and only lost to Katy Jordan by a few points. We have lots to work on, but both teams are extremely committed and wanting to work even harder for our upcoming McGregor meet.

“The girls performed great and all dropped their times,” she said. “One thing we are working on this week is fixing our first mile pace to help set them up better to maintain through mile two.”
