The Rockdale Tiger golf team had another good week on the green, placing fourth out of 22 schools at Brenham Golf Tournament on Monday.
“It went really well,” said Coach Ethan Noel. “It was really good for us to see the course that we’ll get to play on the future.
“We got a feel for what clubs we will need to use on certain holes. The only thing that was different was that the rain really effected one of the holes we were supposed to play on,” he said. “They changed the hole around so we had to play it differently. I don’t know if they’ll fix that for regionals.”
Ross Loth led RHS with a score of 82, tying for seventh. Brady Nelson was one stroke behind scoring 83 and tying for 10th. Sophomore Brayden Burns made an 88 and Hasselbach brothers Doss and Jake shot a 93 and 97.
As individual medalists, Jace Robinson and McKade Casas both ended the day with a 103.
Noel said his team placed near the top amongst some stiff competition.
“This tournament had a lot of regional powers like Boling and Central Heights,” Noel said. “A lot of bigger Houston area schools were also at the tournament.
“Tomball, Magnolia, Magnolia West and Brenham were all there.”
Both Tigers teams tee off next on Monday, March 4, at Mill Creek Country Club in Salado.
“That will likely be a pretty challenging tournament,” Noel said. “Salado always invites good area schools and it’s a nice course from what I remember.
“They recently remodeled the course since some water damage was done a couple of years ago and just finished so it might be different from the last time I went up there a couple of years ago. So I don’t know what to expect from a difficulty standpoint.”
The Lady Tiger golf team will play in Bren-ham on Thursday.
