The Rockdale Tiger golf team finished up their sixth tournament of the season placing second at Mill Creek Country Club in Salado Thursday.

“The course was rough,” said Ethan Noel, Rockdale High School head golf coach. “The green was tight with trees all around it and water hazards on a lot of holes.

“On that Thursday, it was really windy as well. That made it tough.”

In their second place finish, the boys shot a combined 370 and were led by Brady Nelson Jr., who shot an 83 for fifth place. Ross Loth was three strokes behind Nelson with an 86, tying for sixth place.

Jake Hasselbach was the third finisher for Rockdale with a 97 and sophomore Brayden Burns was seven strokes back, shooting a 104 in 18 holes. Doss Hasselbach shot a 117.

“It was mostly 4A and 5A schools from the Central Texas area at the tournament.” Noel said.

LADY TIGERS—Last Wednesday, three members of the girls golf team competed at the same tournament in Salado.

Eve King shot a 100, Payton Miller shot a 115 and Cassidy Smith shot a 123.

Noel said Gracey Burns was unable to compete due to illness and Whitley Boyd didn’t compete due to a prior conflict.

Both Rockdale golf teams will not compete over spring break but will be back at the Brenham Country Club for the second time this season on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23, after playing both squads played there in late February.

The Brenham Country Club is also the site for the Region III golf tournament for both RHS teams.
