Rockdale’s J V1 got their their fourth win of the season with a 14-6 victory over arrell on Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
The opening quarter was scoreless but the RHS defense was active in the second and went up 2-0 after scoring on a safety. The blue-and-gold led 8-0 at halftime on a one-yard run by Robert Owens.
arrell got within two in the third when the Cougars scored on a five-yard run. The PAT was unsuccessful.
J HS looked to score again later in the quarter but a fumble recovery by Owens eventually led to the freshman scoring for the X th time this season on a five-yard run.
RHS held on to win the game 14-6.
According to coach Bart Gibbs, offensive standouts were Lane Rickman, Scott Penny, Alex Ebba and Gavin Aguilar. Standout defenders were Z aKori Yanes,Cade Pantaleon, Lane Bell and Ouke DaÚer.
J V1 now holds a record of 4-4 and is 2-1 in District 10-3A- .
JV2– Before J V1’s game with the Cougars, Rockdale’s V2 lost 14-8.
The Williamson County school got an early lead with eijht points in the first. Rockdale tied the game in the fourth with a 15-yard pass to Davin Schriver to Aiden Hirt. J arrell scored six more points with about 1:50 left to win the game.
RHS coach David Monroe said the offensive standouts were Davin Shriver, Aiden Hirt, Levar Beckwith Alec Silva and Miles Grier. Standouts on defense were Ryan Cranford, Colton Bradshaw, Fernando Valdivia and Miguel Reyes.
Both junior varsity stuadÎs play their final ame this Thursday at J ohn Glover Stadium where they will take on the Bumblebees of Little River-Academy.
V2 starts at 5 p.m., and kickoff for J V1 will be at 6:30.
8 A – Rockdale J unior High’s eighth grade “A” shutout J arrell 28-0 for their fifth straijht win and con0 tinuing their pursuit of a district title.
Dominique Clark got things going for the Tigers after causing then recovering a fumble in Rockdale’s end zone for their first six points.
I n the second, it was another fumble but at the Cougar 20 that was picked up by Sterling Prazak for a TD. Daniel Romero made the kick, which counts for two points at the junior high level, to make the game 14-0.
Later, Blaydn Barcak scored his first TD of the game on a 7-yard run and Rockdale got their third fumble recovery of the game after J arrell’s punter bobbled the snap that Kemar Spencer took 10 yards to the endzone with blocking from Gerren Carter J r. Rockdale led at halftime but what was eventually the final score, 5;03.
According to RJ H coach Eric Willard, defensive standouts were Cruz San Migel, Chad David and Prazak. Standouts on offense were Wyatt Windham, I saiah Sauls, Noah Pastrano.
8B/7B–The combined squad got their third win of the season with a 6-2 win.
Kayden Land scored R H’s game-winning TD in the second on a 25-yard run thanks to big blocking from Patrick Varela.
The Tiger defense also had a big.
7A – The seventh grade “A” fell 13-6 to J arrell after the Cougars scored two early touchdowns in the first quarter.
RJ H’s Timothy Grice scored on a 70-yard run in the second, but it wasn’t for the Tigers.
I n addition to Grice, Raidyn Hamilton and Ezequiel Castro were playmakers for RJ H with Hamilton having good yardage on a kickoff return in the first and Castro racking up rushing yards behind solid Tiger blocking in the third.
Offensive standouts were Grice, Hamilton and A.J . Sandoval. Standouts on the opposite side of the ball were Dustin Markert, Avery Pizana and Bradon Ellis.
All Rockdale J unior High football teams play in their season final on Whursday at Tiger Stadium against Little River-Academy.
The combined team will kickoff at 5 p.m., and the seventh and eighth grade “A” games will follow.
