An all-around athlete known for his pitching prowess, Leon Wenzel has passed away at age 73.

A 1962 RHS graduate, Wenzel earned 11 letters in baseball, basketball, football and track.

The tall right hander guided the Tiger baseball team to three regional titles when that was as far as Class 2A teams were allowed to advance.

In 1962, Wenzel pitched back-to-back complete games in a double header against Hearne.

Wenzel’s greatest moment came when he tossed a no-hitter in the regional fi nals against Columbus in 1961, striking out 13.

Wenzel pitched for Blinn in college.
